Yes this picture is REAL!!!
This woman sleeps in a street of Bangkok. One of the most known cities in the world and one of the most preferred tourist destination in the tour book lists. I don't know if she was alive or dead but I don't think this would make a big difference to her. Maybe even dead is more likely better than the "life" she has.
This photo is another scar of shame in the face of humanity. How can we allow such a thing to happen in this millennium? I am even ashamed to call myself a "Humanitarian" and I am eating while I am seeing this photo.
I don't want to talk much as the photo talks for itself, and if it says anything it will be surely "extreme misery". This is a loud scream to all humanitarians in the world to get their feet up and stand against this life cruelty.

I was in Bangkok for 2 weeks for Asian student’s conference back in those days. I didn’t encounter a person like this at that time. However there are so many people who are facing indescribable harsh reality in this world – Although we can’t save the whole world, we have to think and do whatever we can. And the world is such a challenging place. I guess we always have to have room for those who mourn even if we had everything. We can’t be too comfortable.

Permalink Comment by Elizabeth Sinta Hapsari on January 12, 2012 at 5:36pm Actually, a case like this not only happen in Bangkok, but in all developing countries. It happened because the lack of social attitudes, and concerns. But on this case, the government there is less care, so this way I mean, people pay taxes to the government for the sustainability of state and government, and this includes the protection of citizens are also part of the duty of the state. So really, what did officials the country? instead they should serve and help their people? what they actually do for this? This does not mean I delegate all responsibility to the government, logically, when we already pay taxes, the government must do everything, if not, then these people have no conscience. Sometimes what I see in the same case in every developing country, usually the first civilians to move to help them rather than government social agencies (Though I see they do not work nothing). In my opinion this is the government's failure to protect citizens. And skeleton system of government should be questioned again.because system of government that fails if the government can not protect its citizens.
