There are over 6 million Baha'is in the world dedicated to the oneness of mankind, and the progress of a just global civilization. In the "cradle" of the Baha'i Faith, Iran, the Baha'is have been denied many of their human rights, including the right to education since the so-called Islamic Revolution 40 years ago. In 1987 the Baha'is of Iran created their own university and it has developed into a globally recognized and accepted institution of higher education, pioneering on-line education with professors from around the world. This year, 2011, the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education has come under attack from the Iranian government. Many homes have been unlawfully searched and over a dozen of its teachers and administrators arrested. I invite the concerned members of the Itsonehumanity community to learn about this denial of human rights and to sign a letter written by two Nobel Laureates, Desmond Tutu and Jose Ramos-Horta to call on the Iranian government to cease the repression of the Baha'i community, and in various other ways to support the academic and educational opportunities for students in Iran who are denied the fundamental right to education.
