Lets Not Call It Poverty

Perception is reality. Maybe it is not 'actuality' but what people believe about something is reality to them. I am with children everyday at Changes for New Hope, and trying to alter their view of reality can be challenging. "I can't do it" is what I hear when faced with drawing something they have never attempted before. Once they work with me and complete the task, they realize their abilities are beyond their self imposed perceptions.   I began to think about my battle against poverty…► See More...

Developed in the 1960's in the United States, it is a program that was developed to enable children to maximize their ability to receive and process information. The frustration of teaching children in the Peruvian Andes in our project, Changes for New Hope (changesfornewhope.org) is that they hear what is said, but have limited comprehension, focus, or perhaps attention spans.
