I like the world. I'm optimistic, I like quotes, and I love other people. I speak the tribal language of northern Uganda and have 3 children named after me there. It's my heartland.
I will be pursuing a Master's in the fall in London in Demography & Health, focusing on IDP and Refugee health and Sub-Saharan Africa.

I apologize that this update is so delayed, but I figured it’s better late to send it late rather than never. I’m back in Portland for the week and moving to London for grad school on Monday…but in the meantime, here’s a summary of my last 2 weeks in Uganda this time around!
Uganda Update 8.4/5
Before leaving Lira I was invited to have dinner with Susan and her new husband, Daniel. Susan is Felix’s eldest daughter and five other siblings joined us…

This update is on the shorter side—primarily because this week has been similar to others and because I didn’t give myself very much time to put it together! Bear with me:
Uganda Update 8.3
Well. Plans changed at the last minute. Friday evening I found out that I would be spending this week in Lira as well, travelling south to Kampala on Thursday rather than last Saturday. So no refugee camp, but more work from the office and vaccinating out in the field in…

Uganda Update 8.2
I sent the last update Friday morning before heading out into the field and I’ll warn you beforehand: the weekend was an emotional rollercoaster. I spent most of the day Friday working at the Youth Centre, but that was also the day of Sarah’s burial. Her family put up two trellises from which they hung tarps and branches to provide shade for the more than 200 people who attended. She was buried at her family’s compound and for every wail of grief, someone…

Hi all,
This is a message I mail out to several people who have been following my trips working abroad and thought I might post it here as well. I'll warn you though: it's long. If you read it, I hope you enjoy! (This week's header image is actually a photo from the Youth Centre where I've been working). I'll try to include some photos in next week's update as well. In the meantime, here's Update 8.1--the first weekly update from my eighth trip here.
Uganda…

Megan,
Thanks, i feel welcome already, very pleasant people out there. I am a refugee myself from Ethiopia and feel that there's so much imbalance in the world of today. We have to keep holding the word of hope, peace and love and spread the word of reconciliation. Mohammed
