Sabotage (The inspiring story of a young singer Humanitarian)

This time i want to share a story about amazing singer, i know you will like his songs also.

Sabotage (formerly known as Sab Rafiuddin) is an award winning lyricist/musician from London. Born in Watford but ethnically from Pakistani/Kashmiri descent he is also an undergraduate Law student. Still only just 20 years old, he has firmly established his name on the UK Underground Scene as one of the best up and coming reality based conscious artists whose music provides the industry with something that it desperately lacks and requires in terms of music with a message and meaning.

In November 2011, a tragic and horrific incident took place in which Sabotage's 11 year old cousin was kidnapped at gunpoint by armed extremists in Pakistan just days before Eid and has still not been found. Following this shocking tragedy, Sabotage wrote and recorded his latest single called 'Reunited' (featuring Arjun) to raise awareness of the kidnapping in a hope that someone, somewhere could help the police and come forward to help bring him home. The single is set to release on 11th November 2011 and is being hugely anticipated by Sabotage's fans and supporters.

Sabotage made the decision to take his music on a professional level at the age of 18 in January 2010. His debut single 'Goodbye', which talks about the tragedy of dealing with the death of a loved one, released in February 2010 and was followed by the smash hit single 'Letter to the BNP' which, although ended up being banned from radio for being 'too controversial and potentially upsetting', still managed to reach a widespread audience including senior members of the BNP. Following the success of 'Letter to the BNP', Sabotage decided to use his talent in aid of those suffering in his motherland and released a charity single to help the Pakistan Flood Victims. The charity single was called 'United We Stand' and featured some of the biggest names from the UK Asian Music Scene and all proceeds raised were donated directed to the DEC Appeal. Subsequently, in March 2011, he was approached by the P.Y.M [Pakistan Youth Movement] to make the Official Soundtrack for a nationwide protest in Pakistan, calling for change and an end to the corruption within Pakistan. This single was released on 22nd March 2011 entitled 'Inqilaab e Pakistan' [Revolution of Pakistan], featuring the Urdu singing sensation Ali Abbas and received wide coverage in Pakistan including being played on some of Pakistans biggest radio stations.

Last year Sabotage, performed at the Muslim News Awards of Excellence (in which he was nominated himself for 'Best Contribution to the Arts') and performed in front of prominent figures such as Gordon Brown, William Hague, Boris Johnson as well as over 2,000 other leading politicians and civil servants. In January 2011, Sabotage was nominated for the UK Jinnah Awards; an annual award ceremony recognising the achievements of the UK's Asian Community. Through his music, he has proven to be a thought provoking and conscious lyricist who is not interested in the 'fame' or commercial aspect of the music industry and simply aims to use music as a platform to put across his personal thoughts and views for people of all backgrounds, races and religions to relate to. His music reflects his own personal problems, life experiences and thoughts and opinions on events that are happening in the world which most other artists are too scared to speak out about as it is not seen as 'commercial' enough for radio or television airplay.

As an independent artist and more importantly as a political artist, Sabotage has not received the support of mainstream radio stations or music channels which has meant his releases have been funded and promoted solely by himself and his supporters. However, despite this, he has not changed his material or compromised his lyrics. From an early. He recalls having a deep interest in expressing his thoughts through music but never taking it seriously until winning a national competition and winning his first award - Best British Muslim Poet [Under 18 category] awarded by the MCB when he was just 16 years old. For the next 3 years, he worked hard in establishing his name on the music scene and firmly done so as being a reality based artist. From the age of 16, his music had struck listeners as being unique and different simply because of the content. Over the years, he has independently built a substantive following of supporters both in the UK as well as worldwide.

Very meaningful music. Thanks for sharing Silvi.

I had already heard about the United We Stand project. I believe a humanitarian here on IOH had shared it a while ago. Always interesting to learn more about the people behind such initiatives.
