Hey Everyone,

This past summer I volunteered in Tanzania. My focus was with street children and I worked out of an organization that had been broken by corruption. Originally the organization had been amazing, at one time able to help over 100 street children. Currently they cannot even care for the 30 children that are still living at the centre. Myself and some other volunteers were able to give these children a better life for the time we were there and currently we are sending money to the cook (the only trust worthy person of the organization) so the 30 children will still be able to eat and go to school. These children are living on much less than a dollar a day (39 cents), but they are happy because it was better than they could have expected.

After spending several months with these children and growing close to them we realized that we could not just stop humanitarian efforts after returning home. Therefore A couple of us got together and started a non-profit called Sunrise of Life (SOL). This organization gears its resources to those children we worked with and to other street children in Tanzania, Arusha.
