We are all aware of China's potential to become the biggest and most powerful State in our planet. But what do we know about this ancient country?
Li Kunwu, a 60 year-old Chinese drawer –one of the few who have managed to make a living from comics and propaganda–, shares with us his life in Une Vie Chinoise, a beautiful and powerful comic divided into 3 volumes that covers Chinese development from the early 1950s. Through his own biography and experiences in the Party and the army, Li Kunwu takes us on a journey across the Asian titan: from the very first movements by Mao until the economic reform during Den Xiaoping's system, touching on every social and economic aspect.
With surprising historical accuracy, Une Vie Chinoise becomes an illustrated history-book for those who don't have the time or the strength to dive into mountains of articles and "actual" history books –and/or those who just want to learn more–, making of story-telling and drawing yet another wonderful way to let the World know what lies on its very own surface.
I highly recommend you who understand French/Spanish/Chinese –I don't know if there's a translation into English, although I suspect it shouldn't take long in case there isn't– to dive into this brilliant comic book. Nothing bad has ever come from learning new things :)
